Have your voice heard.

The current school board is interested in hearing from parents. 

The DCSD Parent Input Group is an independent group of parents of current students. The group is not organized or run by the district. All parents of current students are welcome to join the group by filling out the form below. 

What will the group do?

The group will review agenda items prior to the school board meetings and provide input on those items to the school board. 

How will it work?

Each month, when the school board agenda is released, group members will receive an email or text that explains the important items on the agenda and a simple survey where parents can share their views on each item.

The survey results and and comments will then be provided to the school board members via email to help them understand the desire of parents on each item. 

A representative of the group will also attend the meeting and speak during public comment. 

Does the group have to agree on agenda items?

No. This group simply exists to be able to share the view of parents regarding important school board items. 

It is not the intention of the group to persuade group members to be unified in their opinions. The intention is to simply provide an easy way for parents to have their voice heard.

The group does not have to agree on each item. We will simply present the results of our survey and any comments to the board. 

Do group members have to attend the school board meeting or any other meetings?

No. We created this group because we know how busy life is with kids in school, sports, dance, and other activities and that it's hard to attend board meetings or other meetings at a set time. 

Membership in this group is a way parents can have their voices heard at board meetings without actually having to go to the meeting, or any other meeting. All communications will be through text or email and you can participate monthly using 5-10 minutes of your time, at your convenience. 

Who can be a part of this group?

This group is only open to parents of current DCSD students. We recognize that parents aren't the only stakeholders in the community. We hope all sorts of groups provide their input to the school board. But, this group exists strictly to provide a voice for parents. 

What kind of transparency measures will the group take?

To provide full transparency, anybody in the group who fills out the agenda survey form must include their name and agree to having their name attached to their responses and presented the school board. By doing so, board members and members of the group can be sure that their opinion has been presented accurately. Phone numbers and emails will not be made public or provided in the survey results report each month.
